On Friday evening, we received an offer on our house. The couple offered us full price for our house, but they wanted 3% in closing costs, which is the maximum allowed in the State of Maryland. We signed the offer on Sunday morning and now the fun begins. The home inspection on our house is today, and we are praying that nothing major is found. One of the biggest hurdles we need to worry about is the home appraisal. Our realtor is a bit concerned that the appraisal may not be as high as our asking price. That would mean that we would have to drop our price. In doing so, we would also drop the amount of closing costs we would provide to the buyers. Because they are cash-poor, we are worried this may make them back out of the deal, and we'll have to start all over.
For now, we are taking one step at a time and sending up lots of prayers. We are scheduled to close on our house on May 29th (only 4 WEEKS AWAY!) and on our new house the same day. I've arranged for a moving truck and we've managed to scrounge up a little bit of manpower to help out with the heavy stuff. Now I've got to start packing. I know everything will work out, but geesh, this is stressful stuff!
In other news, I've been so consumed by the house stuff that I haven't worried about the baby! I had a lot of stretching pains over the weekend, and my tummy does seem a bit rounder, so I'm praying Little Elmo in there is happily growing. I am anxiously awaiting my doctor's appointment and ultrasound this Friday. I am hoping all the results from the first trimester screening come back okay. Then I have another routine OB appointment on May 10th. We'll probably get to hear the heartbeat. Then it's on to the second trimester...where is the time going??
